Working Capital
You are paying early and being paid late. Neither is what you agreed.
How it works
Payment terms are negotiated carefully. What happens afterwards is less controlled.
-
Suppliers paid early
A contract says 60 days. The supplier master often says 45, the default set when the account was created. The payment run follows the master record, so the supplier is paid up to 15 days ahead of the contract.
-
Customers paying beyond terms
Payment terms in the contract are compared against the terms configured in your systems, and against the date payment was actually made, surfacing customers paying beyond what was agreed.
-
Customer terms beyond policy
Some customers have been given longer terms as part of a commercial negotiation. The cumulative working-capital cost of those concessions is rarely visible until it is tracked against policy.
-
Findings, ready to act on
Each finding is linked back to the relevant contractual clause and renewal date, and carries the counterparty, the term applied, and the financial effect, so finance can act rather than investigate.
